Jose Luis Mendilibar pointed the finger at the Levante defence after seeing his side go down to a 2-0 defeat at home to Rayo Vallecano.
Leo Baptistao scored both goals and speaking after the match, Mendilibar left no doubt as to where he believes the problems where in his team.
“We haven’t been good in defence. The defensive line failed us. We weren’t strong and our defenders have to take responsibility,” he said, AS reports.
“There are veterans at the back who have to carry the team forward. Maybe it was tiredness.
“We didn’t start either half well and we were always reacting to what they did, they attacked us.
“It’s normal for the fans to criticise and they are the judges of what they see on the field. If it’s not good, they whistle.
“We admit these protests are deserved and we’ll try to make sure they’re not there again.”
