Diego Simeone has predicted a bright future for Atletico Madrid starlet Saul Niguez after his goal against Sevilla.
Atletico racked up a 4-0 win over Los Rojiblancos, with Saul scoring after a well-worked set-piece, having been teed up by Miranda.
Simeone explained his reasons for naming a midfield containing Saul, Gabi, Tiago Mendes and Koke, and singled out Saul for praise.
“Playing with more men in midfield gives us more stability. We had strength, intensity and possession of the ball,” he revealed.
“Saul has a tremendous future with this development. He’s 19-years-old and playing in midfield for Atletico at that age is not easy.
“He has a lot of personality. He’s intense. He’s a classic player like Koke, or like Gabi, he does very well.
“He has patience and humility and works hard. He’s destined to be an important player for the club.”
Simeone also praised Raul Jimenez, who claimed an assist and a goal, having drawn criticism from the home supporters in recent appearances.
“Jimenez is very intelligent and will give us a lot of solutions,” he continued.
“It’s good to have people available because we need them all.”
