Escriba not depressed by Elche form

Fran Escriba has admitted losing to Celta Vigo in the last minute hurts but isn’t overly worried by his Elche’s form.

Elche have lost three straight games and fell to a late Nolito goal on Friday night, the Coach arguing at his post-match Press conference that his side did enough to get a better result.

But Escriba lamented Elche falling short against a team he expects to be much higher in the table than his.

“It’s a blow because in the second half in particular, we had chances, but the ball didn’t go in,” he said, according to AS.

“Celta have more quality but we had chances to score. What has happened to us happens in every League. Football is justified by the result and they won.

“The squad is down but the team gave everything on the field and I’ll take that. We need to create more chances to win.

“Celta is a team two steps above us. They’re going to be in the top half of the table.

“Everything is very tight. There’s still time to win games and this isn’t the time to be depressed or catastrophic.”
