Casilla to renew Espanyol deal

Kiko Casillas will extend his Espanyol contract with the goalkeeper now to be to the club until the summer of 2018.

Marca reports both the goalkeeper and Victor Sanchez are to put pen-to-paper on four-year deals in the very near future, with just the players’ signatures missing from the agreements.

Sanchez is expected to make his contract official on Tuesday while Casilla will follow suit a few days later, on Thursday.

AS adds Casilla remains half-owned by Real Madrid, having come through the youth set-up in the capital, and any future transfer would see 50% of the fee go to Los Blancos.

Casilla’s release clause was previously set at €20m and it’s expected his new contract will bring that figure down, although not to the €10m Casilla’s camp was requesting.

Sanchez meanwhile is in line for a substantial pay raise, having signed for lower terms when he first moved to the club.
