Nuno calm as Valencia go top

Valencia Coach Nuno Espirito insists he is remaining calm despite seeing his side go top of the Primera with a 3-0 win over Cordoba.

Los Che lead the way from Barcelona on goals scored, with Nuno’s side, La Blaugrana and Sevilla on 13 points from their opening five games.

Nuno told reporters after the match that while he is pleased with his team’s lofty position, it’s still early in the campaign and he would behave accordingly.

“It’s good to be there but the League has just started and while it’s great that people enjoy it, we have to grow and improve as a team,” he said, according to AS.

“I don’t feel euphoria. The important thing is the fans realise they have a team that will give everything.

“I’ve said that Sunday is another game against another very good team – Real Sociedad – and we’ve got a break of one day less, but we have to show we are on the same level.

“This isn’t a problem but a privilege because I work with very good players who enjoy training."

Nuno added regarding the win over Cordoba that one of the aspects of the match he was most impressed by was his side’s lasting desire, getting a third goal rather than settling for two.

“We don’t ever relax because 2-0 is nice but it doesn’t guarantee anything, not in a League like Spain’s,” he noted.
