Unai Emery is expecting a backlash from Real Sociedad following their shock 2-1 home defeat to Almeria last weekend.

The Sevilla boss has seen his team climb to third in the table after four rounds of fixtures, the club’s best La Liga start in 30 years, but is wary of the threat posed by a wounded La Real when the sides meet at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Wednesday night.

“Real Sociedad react well after every setback. After they lost in Europe they beat Real Madrid with overwhelming superiority in the following fixture.

“When they were losing 2-0 to Celta Vigo they came back to draw. Now, coming on the back of another negative result, we are aware of what they are capable of,” Emery told reporters.

Despite his side’s fine start to the season the former Almeria and Valencia Coach believes there is still room for improvement.

“There’s a lot of margin for improvement in many aspects. Over 90 minutes we are able to compete consistently, but within that we must develop a killer instinct over our opponents.

“It doesn’t depend on an individual player but the whole team as everyone is able to score goals.

“We must insist on finding a stable and defined pattern of play and will be putting out our best possible team to face Real Sociedad.

“I have total confidence in those that are performing well and also those that have been lacking in something,” he explained.
