Alex Lopez expecting different Depor

Celta Vigo midfielder Alex Lopez is expecting a much-changed Deportivo la Coruna from the one that lost 8-2 to Real Madrid at the weekend.

Tuesday night sees the Galician derby take place at Balaidos and Lopez is predicting a tough game where form goes out of the window.

“It’s not going to be easy, despite them coming here on the back of that heavy defeat, because a derby is not influenced by any of these things.

“These are different games and there are no favourites. It’s going to be very close but we are playing at home and we really want to win,” the 26-year-old told a Press conference.

Lopez, along with many members of boss Eduardo Berrizo’s squad, does not know what it feels like to win an official match against Depor, who have not lost in Vigo since 2007.

“It’s true that in an official game we have still not beaten Depor because the friendly in Pontevedra does not count, so the players are very keen and motivated to achieve a victory for our fans.

“We’ve started the season very well, although maybe the results could have been a bit better, but there is a good feeling and the growth of the team has been good.

“We want to make Balaidos a fortress so teams leave here with the least amount of points possible, and a win against Depor will reinforce that belief,” he warned.
