Argentina recall Lionel Messi

Argentina boss Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino has recalled Lionel Messi to his squad after he missed the 4-2 friendly defeat of Germany.

The South Americans have friendlies with Brazil and Hong Kong lined up for October 11 and 14 respectively, both to be played in China, although it is understood that Messi will only play in the game against Brazil before returning to his club Barcelona.

Recent statements by Julito Grondona, son of Argentine Football Federation President Julio Grondona, said that Messi had decided to cut down the number of international appearances he would make until the Copa America.

Former Barca boss Martino has also included two other La Liga players in his squad: Javier Mascherano of Barcelona and Villarreal’s Mateo Musacchio.
