Nuno: Valencia were ‘great’

Valencia boss Nuno Espirito Santo described his side’s performance in the 3-0 victory at Getafe on Monday night as ‘great’.

First-half goals from Paco Alcacer and Andre Gomes put Los Che in command and Rodrigo wrapped things up with a 72nd minute penalty, but then got himself sent off immediately afterwards for a second bookable offence.

However, Nuno could not hide his delight at seeing his side move up to second place in the table.

“We played a great game. In the first half especially we created chances and were very efficient. It was a deserved victory,” he told a post-match Press conference.

“Nonetheless, the euphoria is over and we are now thinking of the next match against Cordoba on Thursday. I must ask people to come to Mestalla and for our fans to fill the ground as it will be very difficult.

“We must unite with the fans and be excited because that’s important. At Mestalla we will be playing with 12 men, but today we did well although at the moment the League table doesn’t matter.”

The Portuguese also commented on Rodrigo’s sending off after his unnecessary tackle earned him a second yellow card.

“He got sent off but just before that I had thought of making a change. Even so, he gives us a lot in attack and at that point the game called for him being on the pitch,” he explained.
