Lim to buy half of Salford City?

Prospective Valencia owner Peter Lim has been linked with a 50% stake in an eighth-tier English team owned by five ex-Manchester United players.

The Daily Mail claims Lim, a United supporter, will buy out Ryan Giggs, Phil and Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, who will each retain 10% of the club.

Lim’s proposed takeover of Valencia has been a long-running saga with the Singapore businessman, believed to be worth £1.5bn, not yet in charge at Mestalla.

He has though funded a number of transfers over the summer, including the loan arrival of Alvaro Negredo.

Paperwork for the takeover of Salford City, who play in the Evostik Norther Premier, is expected to be lodged with the FA this week.

Lim’s attempts to buy Valencia have been hampered by the inability to agree a deal with Bankia, Los Che’s main creditor.
