Emery satisfied with Sevilla

Sevilla Coach Unai Emery had no complaints after his side began the defence of their Europa League crown with a 2-0 win over Feyenoord.

Emery made a number of changes to his starting XI for the match against the Dutch outfit and believes the match and the result were crucial for the health of his squad.

“The important thing was the performance and the participation of the players working to join the team and they will be important this season,” Marca reports Emery as saying.

“Competitiveness is needed and that comes with winning. We have fulfilled the purpose and we’re satisfied because the fans were involved and that makes for a strong Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.”

Sevilla’s goals came from Stephane Mbia and Grzegorz Krychowiak, with Gerard Deulofeu, on loan from Barcelona, also getting a run out.

“Deulofeu is explosive and draws attention from defenders, although he needs to know how to find a partner and his teammates,” Emery said of the winger.

“But his performance was positive and he can improve.

“Mbia played well and his qualities make the team better.”
