Perez plans Madrid cantera overhaul

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez wants to re-organise the club’s youth set-up, eliminate a number of levels and focus on RM Castilla and Juvenil A.

AS reports Perez outlined his plan in a 20-minute speech to a group of club members in advance of the club’s assembly.

It’s said that Perez wants to merge Real Madrid C with Castilla and have only one level of Juvenil, scrapping B and C.

Perez believes that reducing the number of different groups would allow Madrid to focus their energies on producing the best possible players.

Ramon Martinez would be tasked with overseeing the re-organisation while AS suggest Perez’s true motivation is cutting the cost of the youth system.

Martinez has also been named acting sporting director, replacing Miguel Pardeza, who left Santiago Bernabeu over the summer.

Perez confirmed that the signings made by the club before the start of the current campaign were driven by the director general.
