Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu said he was happy with the point taken in the 0-0 draw at Athletic Bilbao.
The Ukrainians returned home with a valuable point from their opening Champions League Group H game at San Mames, and Lucescu felt it was a fair result.
“I’m happy because we don’t play in a League as strong as Athletic’s and everyone knows the conditions we’ve had to train under in the Ukraine.
“We also don’t have the support they do and a marvellous stadium like San Mames, so Athletic had all the advantages,” he told reporters at the post-match Press conference.
“Before this match we didn’t know how we would stand but now we are perfectly situated [in the group], although I thought this game was well balanced.
“My players worked well and had control of the match against a very strong opponent, so a draw seems fair,” he concluded.
