Ernesto Valverde felt his Athletic Bilbao side committed too many errors in the 0-0 Champions League draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Ukrainians set their stall out to negate Bilbao’s passing style at San Mames and Valverde told reporters afterwards that they had succeeded in doing so.
“We were up against a great team so I see the draw as a positive result, but it was a point we were made to suffer for.
“We were unable to play our normal game at home and they made things difficult for us.
“As a result we made more mistakes than we usually would, but nobody said it was going to be easy,” lamented Valverde.
