James rues Madrid luck

James Rodriguez has put Real Madrid’s derby defeat against Atletico Madrid down to bad luck.

The Colombia winger was speaking at a Press conference to preview Los Blancos’ Champions League game against Basel as they begin their defence of the trophy.

“Basel have good players but we have to play to win. We have to be careful because they have dangerous forwards,” he warned, according to AS.

“I’m happy [at playing in the competition]. It’s a nice place to play and I dreamed of playing in the Champions League. I hope we can start winning and I can help.

“Playing for Madrid is something I wanted as a child and now I’m here I’ll give everything.”

Asked about Madrid’s poor form after two straight defeats, he insisted the team has to look forward, not back.

“It’s game by game. When you win or lose, it’s game by game. You always look at the next day and the next game,” he continued.

“It’s a new day and we can win the next game.

“We had no luck [against Atletico]. We had clear chances and we have to take them. We have to work hard in training as well.”
