‘Barca aren’t just Messi’

Pedro Rodriguez has praised the recent form of Lionel Messi but argued it’s the whole Barcelona team who are performing well.

Messi created both goals for Neymar in Barca’s 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday and Pedro was asked at a Press conference if La Blaugrana are too reliant on the Argentine.

“When you can have Leo on the pitch, you know what he’s about,” AS reports the winger replying.

“He wins many games…give him the ball and he can create anything. He’s a decisive player and when he’s on form, the team enjoys it.

“But it’s not only his work that’s good but the work of everyone else. Although he’s the best in the world and it’s a privilege to have him in the team, I think the other players are doing a good job too.”

Two players to have caught the eye in the early campaign are youngsters Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez, who have both opened their accounts for the senior side.

“We’re motivated by their performances,” Pedro countered when asked about the pair.

“The two of them are eager, they’ve got their chance and they’re scoring goals. It’s good that there is this competition.

“We’re also missing Luis Suarez, who we are keen to have because he is a decisive player, scores a lot of goals and brings a lot to the team.

“When everyone’s fit and competing against each other it will be good for the team.”
