‘Leon won’t distract Getafe’

Getafe Coach Cosmin Contra is sure his side will put behind them the unrest involving Pedro Leon when they play Sevilla.

Leon is in dispute with the club after he was left out of the registered squad as if Getafe had named him, they would have breached the LFP-imposed salary cap.

But Leon insists offers were made to Getafe to sell him over the summer, disputed by the President, with the players’ union, the AFE, now involved.

“We’re not getting into that topic as it’s outside the group,” Contra said at his pre-match Press conference when the subject was raised, AS reports.

“What counts is that the team think of Sevilla. Pedro Leon is one of the squad and I’ve always treated him as such.

“I haven’t seen anything to make me think the group is affected. Logically, Pedro is affected but I’ve not seen anything in the others.

“It’s an institutional issue and we’ll try not to let it affect the team.

“We’re facing one of the best teams in Spain, a team always trying for the Champions League.

“They’re a hard working team who have made good signings. But we are better now than before the international break.”
