Neymar has labelled Lionel Messi the best in the world after the pair combined in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.
Messi created and Neymar scored both goals as Barca dispatched the Basques at Camp Nou, the Brazil captain entering the match as a substitute on the hour mark.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Neymar waxed lyrical about his Argentina counterpart.
“I am very happy with the game today. It went perfectly with two goals” he began, according to AS.
“We knew we were going to suffer a little but we managed to keep defending well and then get the win.
“Messi is the best in the world, a star. I’m recovering and we’re getting better as a team.
“I’m a little tired. It was a long journey [after international duty].
“For the first goal I escaped a little and was able to score. I hope this is my year.”
