Ronaldo is fit, says Ancelotti

Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo is back to full fitness and ready to play Atletico Madrid tomorrow.

Ronaldo missed Madrid’s last League game, a 4-2 defeat against Real Sociedad at Anoeta, and didn’t join up with Portugal over the international break.

Instead Ronaldo worked on regaining his fitness and, according to AS, Ancelotti has told a Press conference that the decision has proved fruitful.

“Cristiano is fit. He’s in optimal physical condition,” the Italian said.

“He’s not suffering from a chronic injury. He’s been training well. Last season he had one injury and now it was a different one. It’s not chronic.”

Ancelotti also gave an insight into James Rodriguez’s training, not fitness based but rather positional.

“He’s training to get used to a slightly different position,” the former Paris Saint-Germain boss added.

“It won’t change much. Every new player needs time to adjust. I’m happy with how he has done so far. It’s normal there’s some difficulty at first.”

Ancelotti rounded out his conversation with reporters by touching on two more members of his squad, Iker Casillas and Javier Hernandez.

“[Casillas] has never lost confidence. He’s celebrating his anniversary with Real Madrid today and we congratulate him,” he said of the goalkeeper.

“Everyone is very happy with Chicharito. He won’t start tomorrow but he might be used at some point.”
