Alba to be offered new Barca deal

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is expected to offer a new contract to Spain international Jordi Alba.

AS reports that after Barca spent much of the summer working on the right side of the defence – signing Douglas and clarifying the status of Dani Alves and Martin Montoya – attention is now on the left.

Alba’s current contract runs until 2017 but there is a desire from the club to agree terms on a new deal. It is one of Zubi’s first tasks as he arrives back at work following a holiday.

Alba, Sergi Roberto and Pedro Rodriguez are all in line for contract talks while a plan will be put in place for the progression of Rafinha’s contract.

Pedro’s deal expires at the same time as Alba’s, in 2017, while Sergi will be offered a deal to be contracted to Barca until the summer of 2019.
