Carlo Ancelotti has lamented his club’s bad luck with the so-called FIFA virus, players returning injured after the international break.
In an interview with Italian daily Il Giornale, the Real Madrid boss gave his thoughts on Los Blancos’ misfortune as both Sami Khedira and Dani Carvajal reported back with injuries.
“We are not having much luck with the national teams. It’s been the same story for the past year,” complained the Italian.
Despite the setback, Ancelotti is adamant he will get the best out of Real Madrid again, even though Xabi Alonso and Angel di Maria have both left the club this summer.
“I’ll find the right answers for Real Madrid once again this season. We are a team of athletes and things are different for us. Real Madrid are a diesel,” he remarked in reference to the relatively poor start to the 2014-15 La Liga campaign.
The 55-year-old was asked his opinion on the departures of goalkeeper Diego Lopez to Milan and striker Alvaro Morata to Juventus, two of his former clubs.
“Lopez is a quality player who applies himself and has taken on the challenge of starting again in another league after playing for Real Madrid.
“At Madrid there was competition from Iker Casillas and Diego was playing regularly.
“As for Morata, I think he is the player to watch in Serie A this year. I know him well and he needs to play regularly. He is a very important player.”
