Sevilla can be great says Emery

Unai Emery is confident he is building a Sevilla team that can make it big and is targeting a Champions League place this term.

Speaking to the La Bombonera Debate programme, the Basque-born Coach could not hide his excitement at what the future holds.

“This Sevilla has what it takes and I’m very happy with the team we have put together for all three competitions.

“Furthermore, there remains scope for our young players to continue to grow. There is substance, enthusiasm and excitement, and I believe we can do something great.

“My dream is to play in the Champions League with Sevilla. Although I’ve not done that at this club, they gave me the chance to be a Europa League champion,” said Emery.

To achieve a top four place the Andalusians will need to do it without the influential Federico Fazio, who has signed for Tottenham Hotspur.

“Every time a footballer leaves there is the satisfaction he has given to Sevilla, both in a sporting and economic sense.

“Whenever such an established player goes it has an effect and we must convert this into something positive,” he explained.
