Del Bosque: Spain credibility returning

Vicente Del Bosque believes Spain got a little bit of credibility back following the World Cup by beating Macedonia 5-1.

La Roja went to Brazil as holders but were knocked out at the group stage and lost their first post-tournament game against France.

But a return to competitive action brought a commanding victory in the first round of qualifying for Euro 2016, with Paco Alcacer scoring his first goal for the national team.

Munir El Haddadi also made his Spain debut, committing his international future to the country of his birth and not Morocco, the country of his father.

“We know we lost credibility at the World Cup and we have to go and recover that and we do that on the field, playing well and scoring points for Euro 2016,” AS reports the Coach as saying.

“Macedonia didn’t sit back and even used three strikers. They came forward and didn’t keep people behind the ball and they could have scored more.

“Alcacer met expectations. He played parts of two games, scored a goal and has been good and has taken a step forward.

“We will be watching how he develops with his club.

“The only reason Munir played is that he was the only player in the squad who hadn’t. They all played except for Kiko Casilla.

“We gave him a chance from the Under-21s. I imagine he has a Moroccan feeling but he was here because he chose to be.”
