Suarez to play in Uruguay friendlies

Luis Suarez has been given the all-clear to play for Uruguay in a series of friendlies next month, reports in Spain confirm.

Marca say Suarez will be included by the South Americans for a tour of Asia that is scheduled for October’s international break.

Uruguay are to play Saudi Arabia on October 10 and Oman on October 13 and while Suarez is banned for eight international games after biting Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup, the suspension only counts for competitive games.

A consultation was reportedly held between Uruguay and FIFA to confirm the situation and it replicates Suarez’s club ban, as he can’t play for Barca in competitive games but did play in the Joan Gamper Trophy before the start of the season.

Barca are said to be happy for Suarez to turn out for his country in an effort to build his fitness before he is able to play for his club. Suarez’s first Barca game is set to be the visit to Real Madrid in late October.

Uruguay are understood to want Suarez as his presence will help generate interest in the fixtures and increase ticket sales.
