Senna wants Villarreal return

Former Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna says he is watching his old club closely and believes they can have a successful season.

Senna has been interviewed by AS and after discussing Spain’s prospects, turned to the Yellow Submarine.

“I see a very solid project. It’s a serious club which does things very well,” the New York Cosmos man said.

“I think it’s going to be a great season for Villarreal. I’ll always follow them. It’s my home.

“In the future the idea is to go back and live nearby. If I have the chance to re-join the club I’d be very happy.”

Asked to expand on his intentions at El Madrigal, Senna admitted he didn’t have a specific role in mind but just wanted to be involved.

“Under the Coach, anything…I miss everyone. They have a lot of merit because the size isn’t the same as in other cities,” he said.

“Before I left Fernando Roig said the doors were always open to me.

“I wish Villarreal could win the League but it will be the same teams as always. Now Atletico Madrid join them and we’ll see how Valencia do.

“I would like it to be another team other than Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
