Silva: Spain trying to work with Costa

David Silva believes Spain will find a way to play with Diego Costa but admits it’s a departure in style for La Roja.

Costa withdrew from the squad to play Macedonia on Monday after featuring for more than an hour in the midweek defeat to France, where he again failed to get on the score sheet for his country.

“We are trying to connect with Costa. We’re on it,” Silva told a Press conference, according to Marca.

“Over the last few years we’ve been known for having the ball and creating chances. We have to be patient as there are new people here.

“Now we don’t really create much. We’re working to improve that aspect.

“I saw Costa was doing well and I talked to him. The injury is nothing serious. Now we think of Macedonia.”

Munir El Haddadi was called into the squad to replace Costa despite having played only a handful of times for Barcelona.

Silva praised the teenager and said he would trust the judgement of Vicente Del Bosque for including him in the side.

“He’s doing well. If del Bosque has called him it’s not for nothing,” the Manchester City midfielder continued.

“He’ll bring a lot of enthusiasm and youth. We’ll try our best to help him.”

Silva added however that even with Costa in the side, he doesn’t think Spain should change too much and doesn’t feel the Coach has been affected by the World Cup.

“Del Bosque wants things to go well. I see him as usual,” Silva continued.

“We’ve won two European Championships and a World Cup so I don’t think we have to change our style.

“If we had won nothing then maybe we’d have to change, but it has given us very good results.

“Macedonia won’t be an easy game. It’s the first in the qualifying round and we’ll try to get three points. We need to be organised.”
