Victor Valdes could move to Liverpool in October, by which point the former Barcelona goalkeeper should be able to pass a medical.
British publication the Daily Mail reports Valdes will compete with Simon Mignolet to be the Reds’ No.1 once he is fully recovered from the cruciate ligament injury that ended his season in March.
Valdes left Barca this summer when his contract expired and had seemed set for a move to Monaco, only for the Ligue 1 club to back out due to concerns regarding his fitness.
Liverpool are said to have been in touch with Valdes who received an encouraging response from the goalkeeper, having missed out on other targets during the transfer window.
