Del Bosque on Enrique & Messi

Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque has given his thoughts on his Barcelona counterpart Luis Enrique, as well as Lionel Messi and Munir El Haddadi.

The national team trainer has been interviewed by Mundo Deportivo and the Catalan publication enquired as to Del Bosque view of Barca’s decision to appoint the former Celta Vigo boss.

“They have created new expectations. Barca are confident in a man of the club for the future and I imagine that he is going to do well,” the former Real Madrid Coach said.

“Luis Enrique is man with enthusiasm and preparation and he has been signed because they trust him completely.”

On the subject of Messi, Del Bosque was asked if he feels the Argentina captain is on a downward trajectory.

“It’s very difficult for Messi to keep it up forever,” he replied.

“These great players, like him or Cristiano Ronaldo, may have some weak moments but what is certain is he is an extraordinary player and has demonstrated that in the first two League games.”

MD finally asked Del Bosque about Munir, the teenager who has made a strong impression on the Barca first team over the summer and into the early stages of the new campaign.

Munir is eligible for Spain and Morocco and has been called into the Spanish Under-21 set-up, with Del Bosque comparing his situation to that of Bojan Krkic, who was able to play for Spain and Serbia.

“The first step has been taken, and he came to the teams below and now he has been called for the Under-21s,” Del Bosque confirmed.

“We can’t and won’t put any obstacle to summon him for the seniors. Like we incorporated Bojan, from the same team, a newcomer to the first team, and considering he is very good, why wouldn’t we? We’ll do the same.”
