Zubi: Barca window as planned

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has declared that the summer went as planned for the club with regards to transfers.

Zubi held a Press conference the day after the window closed with Barca now subject to a transfer ban, pending their latest appeal.

“I think we’ve done everything as planned,” Marca reports the former goalkeeper as saying.

“Another thing is that in this process there have been contractual situations. All the phone calls have been answered.

“I’m now taking a vacation for the first time in four years. We’ve created a positive illusion.

“We’re trying to return to a highly competitive squad. We have a recognisable team with the nuances of football.

“We’re where we wanted to be, with a team that can compete again.

“If the President says Luis Enrique is the most important signing…they’re all important, those we have brought and those who have stayed.

“I’m happy with the squad. We can’t predict the future but we’re ready to compete this year.”

On the subject of the transfer ban, Zubi added that he and his staff will continue working hard regardless of the restrictions in place.

“We work with the squad we have, with the players we have, and the option to defend our rights,” he continued.

“We will work every day just like usual. From there we’ll see where we are in the market next year. This summer we used foresight.”
