Hernandez ‘not working to be a sub’

Javier Hernandez has said he isn’t joining up with Real Madrid with the intention of being a substitute.

The Mexico international yesterday completed a season-long loan move from Manchester United and has spoken of his excitement at the transfer.

But he warned that while he will give his all for Los Blancos, he won’t be doing so to be a back-up player.

“I’m not working to go on the bench and when I get the opportunity I want to take it,” Marca reports Chicharito as saying.

“There were a lot of clubs rumoured but when Madrid come for you, you don’t think twice.

“You don’t work to play five minutes but to give your best, learn and achieve the maximum minutes the Coach gives you. That comes from working.

“All I want is to do well. I’m with the best players in the world and I want to contribute to this team that will achieve important things.

“What more could you want from a footballer’s life?”
