Cristiano Ronaldo says Real Madrid are targeting an 11th European Cup this season after he was named UEFA’s Player of the Season.
Ronaldo beat off competition from Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben to land the prize at yesterday’s UEFA gala following the Champions League draw.
The award was decided by a vote of 54 journalists and speaking after he was presented with the trophy, Ronaldo gave his thoughts as to the new season as well as what the title means to him.
“This is an award I don’t yet have and it’s going in my museum,” Marca reports the Portuguese as saying.
“I never tire of winning. Individual awards are something special and I have to thank my teammates, without them it wouldn’t be possible.
“Neuer and Robben could also have won but they have chosen me and I think it’s fair.
“This season I will try to be better than my last but it may be difficult.
“The new signings are fantastic and they have shown that in the World Cup, and they help us in our goal, to win La Undecima this year.”
