Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Sao Paulo right-back Douglas with reports in Spain putting the fee at €5.5m.
The club’s official website announced the signing late last night and say the fee breaks down at €4m up front and €1.5m in performance variables.
Mundo Deportivo add that Douglas is due in Barcelona tomorrow after Barca agreed a deal with both Sao Paulo, who owned 60% of the 24-year-old’s rights, and the Traffic agency, who held the other 40%.
Sao Paulo initially wanted €6m for the player but were eventually talked down, with Barca buying the full rights to Douglas.
Barca have also revealed Douglas is to sign a five-year contract at Camp Nou and will make the transfer official once he has successfully completed a medical.
