Barca discussing ban & Douglas

A meeting of the Barcelona board will today discuss the club’s transfer ban and the proposed signing of Sao Paulo full-back Douglas.

Mundo Deportivo reports the Barca high command are getting together today and as well as mulling over the move for Douglas and the club’s position regarding the transfer ban, the prospect of taking action against former President Joan Laporta and a number of former executives will also be considered.

A Barca delegation is due in Brazil tomorrow to finalise the details of the transfer of Douglas, while President Josep Maria Bartomeu and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta are to meet with Coach Luis Enrique over lunch.

The trio will discuss if the club need to make more signings before the transfer ban comes into effect at the end of the month, in case the Court of Arbitration for Sport reject Barca’s appeal.

There will be other issues on the agenda as well, including the case for damages against Laporta, with legal proceedings to come next month, according to MD.
