‘Levante were dangerous’

Villarreal Coach Marcelino believes scoring first was crucial to his side’s 2-0 win over Levante.

Goals from Ikechukwu Uche and Denis Cheryshev gave the Yellow Submarine a first win of the season and Marcelino told reporters that while his side were in control, as long as the game was goalless, they were under threat.

“We started the game very well and could have punished them in the first 20 minutes,” Marca reports the trainer as saying.

“But after that they turned over the ball and the match was close, with the danger Levante created.

“After scoring the first goal we took a lot of confidence and improved, we knew we could get on the counter-attack and that made it 2-0.”
