Nuno delighted with draw

Nuno Espirito was happy to see Valencia draw with Sevilla after going down to 10 men when Rodrigo de Paul was dismissed.

The Argentine winger was sent off after 67 minutes for an incident with Aleix Vidal, who had given Sevilla the lead just before half-time.

Despite being a man light Valencia claimed a late equaliser, Lucas Orban netting with only minutes to play.

“I think in the first half we were superior, with good chances, pressing, winning the ball back, but the game broke down and in two or three minutes they scored,” Marca reports the Coach as saying.

“We competed against an opponent with a great team who won the Europa League and have things clear. We knew it would be difficult.

“We adjusted well with 10 men, we suffered safely and drew with Sevilla at home, which should be valued.”

Nuno added that he didn’t believe Rodrigo meant to hurt Vidal, and dismissed the idea his side were out for revenge after they were knocked out of last season’s Europa League by Sevilla.

He also claimed that Valencia were aiming to be on the coattails of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, and as such, Sevilla are ‘a direct rival.’
