Xavi: At least one trophy

Barcelona’s Xavi is demanding that his side win at least one trophy this season as they prepare to open their La Liga campaign.

The Blaugrana endured a highly disappointing campaign last time out, with a rare trophyless season bringing about the departure of Tata Martino from the club.

“Everyone needs to be ready and we need to win at least one title,” veteran midfielder Xavi told a Press conference today.

“Luis Enrique knows the club and has a clear idea of the system. When you see the team train, things seem good and I think things will go well. The technical staff have very clear ideas.

“We want to start the season well. The competition is good for the team, all players are key.”

Xavi, who was close to leaving Camp Nou this summer, was then asked how he felt about having to fight for his place in the first team.

“It’s good for the team, we all need to be ready because the season is very long. Everyone is at a great level.

“I will work to be important for the team and to be useful. I am staying to be part of the team.”

Finally, the former Spain international categorically denied reports that he has a fractious relationship with new Coach Enrique.

“I read that I don’t talk to Luis Enrique! My relationship with the Coach is great and it will continue to be.

“I’m enjoying myself in training and I am ready for everything.”
