Barcelona have made a €60m approach to Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria, according to reports in Spain.
Sport claim an official from La Blaugrana made contact with Madrid but President Florentino Perez refused to even negotiate a possible sale to Barca.
Di Maria is said to want to quit Santiago Bernabeu after growing unhappy with his contract and Madrid’s refusal to meet his terms.
The Argentina international is thought to want €8m-a-year, a raise on his current €3m-a-year pay packet, and it was confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti that he has asked to leave the club.
Barca attempted to exploit Di Maria’s unhappiness by tempting Los Blancos with a substantial offer, although Sport also suggest they were simply trying to exacerbate the situation between the disaffected player and his club.
