Di Maria to start Supercopa?

Carlo Ancelotti could name Angel Di Maria in the Real Madrid team to play Atletico Madrid in tonight’s Supercopa de Espana second leg.

AS say the Coach is considering including the Argentina international in a three-man midfield, having yesterday confirmed Di Maria wants to leave and has turned down a contract extension.

But Ancelotti also said that as long as Di Maria remains at the club he will be considered for the team, and he was introduced as a second half substitute in the first leg 1-1 draw.

The Madrid higher-ups are however concerned that a strong Di Maria performance will mean they have to keep him, having intended to use his sale to offset the cost of signing James Rodriguez from Monaco.

A sterling Di Maria showing could get the fans on his side, AS say, which would complicate his exit and push Madrid to make a better contract offer.

It’s also said that Ancelotti wanted another striker to support Karim Benzema but was instead given another playmaker, when he already has Isco.
