Talk of Barcelona resuming their interest in Atletico Madrid’s Koke has led to the move being described as ‘impossible.’
Mundo Deportivo reports that the Catalans remained keen on Koke despite the midfielder re-signing with his club.
The Spain international’s contract now extends to 2019 and it’s understood his wages rose accordingly.
Koke was again mentioned as a possible Barca target once the club’s transfer ban was upheld, with the suggestion he could move to Camp Nou then return to Atletico on a season-long loan.
But MD say the player isn’t going to change his mind two months after putting pen-to-paper on a new contract and Atletico aren’t in the mood to sell, despite the cost to them of keeping the cantera product.
Barca were told that if they wanted to sign Koke, they would have to meet his termination clause – some €60m.
