Barca ‘don’t deserve’ transfer ban

A Barcelona spokesman has said the club will evaluate their policy on young players in the wake of their transfer ban, but ‘don’t deserve’ the punishment.

FIFA yesterday rejected Barca’s appeal over a sentence that will see the club banned from registering players for two transfer windows starting in January 2015.

Barca have been sanctioned for the signing of a number of minors, while the RFEF have also been fined for their role in registering the players.

The club will take their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and Manel Arroyo has told RAC1 that Barca maintain their innocence.

“We disagree with FIFA’s decision. We are surprised and we’ll go to CAS,” Sport reports Arroyo as saying.

“The lawyers are preparing it because we understand that the penalty is not what the club deserves. We had demonstrated this to the relevant authorities.”

Arroyo accepted that Barca need to look at the club’s procedures regarding transfers but argued that their intentions are good, and that should count for something.

“We have to check all the processes we do in the club and improve as necessary,” he conceded.

“Our aim is to develop children and people. We are ready to find the formula for which there is no misuse in the signing of children.”
