Bayern in Madrid for Godin – report

Bayern Munich executives will travel to Madrid today to meet with Diego Godin’s representatives, it has been claimed.

Following news that Javi Martinez will be out for seven months with a knee injury, the German champions have been keen to sign another central defender in time for the start of the new campaign.

And AS believe that the Bavarian outfit have ear-marked the Atletico Madrid man as the one they want.

It has been suggested that sporting director Michael Reschke will be in the capital today to talk with the player’s agent as well as representatives from the Colchoneros.

Although Bayern are financially strong, the paper claims that Atleti won’t let Godin go easily.

Diego Simeone has described the Uruguay international as ‘untouchable’, and it is thought that the Bundesliga winners may have to part with upwards of €40m to land the defender.
