Barca reach Douglas agreement?

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Sao Paulo for right-back Douglas but the transfer hasn’t yet been confirmed, reports say.

Marca claim that Barca will pay €8m for the 24-year-old and the deal will be announced later this week, AS adds.

But Douglas won’t join up with Barca until next season, Marca claim, as Dani Alves is now considered likely to see out his deal at Camp Nou.

Alves was free to leave but was unable to find a club willing to pay his €9m-a-year wages. He would now prefer to stay at Barca for the final 12 months of his contract and leave as a free agent.

Should Alves’ situation change and he leave Barca before the close of the transfer window then Barca would accelerate Douglas’ arrival.

Douglas’ rights are 40% owned by the Traffic management group, the same group that facilitated the signings of Henrique and Kerrison, neither of whom made a senior appearance for La Blaugrana despite costing a combined €22m, Marca say.
