‘Any Madrid player would be welcome’

Borja Valero has admitted that Sami Khedira would be more than welcome at Fiorentina.

The Germany international is thought to be surplus to requirements at Santiago Bernabeu, with Toni Kroos signing from Bayern Munich this summer.

The former Stuttgart man has been linked with a switch to the Serie A side, and the Spanish midfielder has claimed that he would welcome Khedira, or any Los Blancos player, with open arms.

“Anyone who left Madrid would be a superb signing and a great addition for us,” he told AS.

Valero was speaking after the Viola beat the European champions in Warsaw, but the 29-year-old believes that Carlo Ancelotti’s men were saving themselves for the Supercopa de Espana.

“They are a great team. When they change gear, it's hard to stop them. Their midfield is very strong and they know how to change tempo.

“They haven't gone flat out because they wanted to avoid injuries as they have the Supercopa in a few days. But for us the game was very good and it's great to beat them.

“I'm not going to miss it, it will be a really interesting match. With the way Atletico play with pressure and intensity, and with the great team Madrid have, it will be a beautiful final to watch.”
