Barca ‘closing the door’ on Cuadrado

Barcelona are ready to walk away from their pursuit of Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado, reports in Spain claim.

Mundo Deportivo say Barca feel Fiorentina’s demands for the player are exorbitant, that dialogue between the clubs is becoming difficult, and an agreement seems to be impossible.

But Cuadrado’s contract expires next summer and Fiorentina are said to be aware of his desire to move to Camp Nou, but are unwilling to do business with the Catalans even with the risk of losing the Colombia international for free.

MD speculate that Fiorentina are trying to engineer a bidding war between Barca and Manchester United, who have also expressed interest in the player.

If that is the case then the report claims it will backfire as Barca are prepared to move to other targets, but would be willing to resume talks if Fiorentina show some inclination to do business.

Barca are said to be adamant they will not pay the €40m Fiorentina are looking for.
