Cristiano: Now for the Supercopa

Cristiano Ronaldo is targeting Real Madrid’s second trophy of the season having only just landed their first, the European Super Cup.

Madrid next play Atletico Madrid in the two-legged Supercopa de Espana and Ronaldo, who netted twice in Cardiff against Sevilla in the European Super Cup, says he is feeling fit and healthy.

“I feel good. It was my first competitive game and I was thinking a little about how I would find it,” Marca reports the forward as saying.

“But it turned out well and the feelings are good. The goals gave me confidence and I felt comfortable. I didn’t feel any pain.

“I’m happy to get this trophy that I wanted to win because I didn’t have it on my resume.

“We can’t ask for any more because the goal is met. I feel good but I feel I can give more. Now, on to the other Super Cup.”

Ronaldo added that he felt Madrid deserved the victory and thanked the fans for sticking by him during his injury problems at the end of last season and through the World Cup.

“We knew it would be a difficult game but we played better than Sevilla and created a lo

t of chances,” he continued.

“We had more intensity and we looked for more goals. We were deserved winners.

“What is the past is the past. I had problems at the end of last season and at the World Cup but that’s over, I’m back and I scored two important goals.

“Thanks to the fans, the win was for them, they are always with us and this is a time to remember that.”

Ronaldo also reserved words of praise for Sir Alex Ferguson, his former Manchester United manager who was present at the match and handed over the Man of the Match award to the Portugal captain.

“It’s very special to me that he delivered this award because he taught me many things at United,” Ronaldo said of Ferguson.
