Urrutia: Everyone wanted to avoid us

Athletic Club President Jose Urrutia says no team wanted to face his club before the draw for the Champions League play-offs was made.

The Basque side, who finished fourth in last season’s La Liga, were unseeded for the draw in Nyon today and were paired with Rafa Bentitez’s Napoli.

Reacting to the news, the San Mames chief stressed the fact his side will play the second leg of the tie at home could be decisive.

“It will be a match against a great opponent, but we want to get through and continue in the competition,” Urrutia said to journalists.

“No team wanted us as opponents and Napoli confirmed that to us too.

“The return match at San Mames gives us a bit of an edge, even though it provides no guarantees.

“We always play to win, we must try to do that in the first leg at San Paolo too.”
