Suarez appeal heard today

Luis Suarez is in Lausanne for his appeal against the four-month ban from all football imposed by FIFA for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

Mundo Deportivo reports Barcelona have helped prepare the summer signing’s case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport as they feel they are also affected by the ban, with Suarez unable to train, enter Camp Nou or even meet his new teammates.

The Uruguay Football Federation are also part of the appeal as Suarez was given a nine-game international ban. He served the first of the games in Uruguay’s World Cup defeat to Colombia.

As it stands, the first Barca game for which Suarez will be available is the Clasico against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on October 26.

But all parties are said to be confident that Suarez’s suspension will be reduced by CAS as it will be argued it is too harsh to ban a player from all football activity for the length of time FIFA did.

Sport add there are four lawyers on the case – two from Barca, Suarez’s personal lawyer and the lawyer for the Uruguayan Federation.
