Valencia pay €8m for Mustafi

Germany World Cup winner Shkodran Mustafi has completed a move to Valencia from Sampdoria.

Marca report Mustafi as costing Los Che €8m with a five-year contract signed worth €1m-a-year.

Sampdoria were said to have put a €10m price tag on the defender’s head but Valencia were able to get the 22-year-old slightly cheaper despite mooted interest from Juventus and Napoli. The fee will be paid in two instalments.

Mustafi will on Thursday be officially presented as a Valencia player and is seen as a replacement for the Barcelona-bound Jeremy Mathieu, giving Valencia a €12m profit on the exchange.

It’s claimed that Valencia Coach Nuno had made signing a centre-back a priority and is particularly impressed by Mustafi’s ability on the ball, an area he felt the team needed to improve.
