La Real beat Aberdeen

Real Sociedad got their Europa League campaign off to a promising start with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen.

Goals from David Zurutuza and Sergio Canales gave La Real a first-leg win over the Scottish side, with the return to come next week.

The game was goalless at half-time but Zurutuza broke the deadlock before the hour mark, Canales wrapping up the game 15 minutes later.

Zurutuza capitalised when the Dons failed to clear the ball from the penalty area before Canales scored a long-range strike to double the advantage.

Markel Bergara and Inigo Martinez both hit the crossbar while Aberdeen were unable to claim an away goal.

Alfred Finnbogason made his La Real debut in the tie, while Esteban Granero came on as a late substitute after completing a permanent move from Queens Park Rangers.
