Marc-Andre Ter Stegen says the pressure of being a Barcelona goalkeeper isn’t something he expects to suffer with.
Ter Stegen left Gladbach for Barca this summer and is to compete with Claudio Bravo for a starting spot under Luis Enrique.
He has spoken with Mundo Deportivo about the prospect of taking the gloves at Barca, revealing his thoughts on goalkeeping.
“I know the pressure in the Barca goal but I’m here to play my football and the football the club wants to play,” Ter Stegen said.
“I’m not afraid. I’m happy to be here and give the best of me. Then we’ll see what happens in the future.
“I don’t like it when I concede goals. It’s clear that everyone has to do their job. If they all do then it’s not important how we concede goals. The important thing is to catch the ball.”
Ter Stegen added that he is impressed with what he has seen of new Coach Enrique, who replaced Tata Martino at the end of the season.
“I like the way he sees football and I like his personality. He is a direct person,” the Germany international continued.
“He has a great personality and I think he’s a normal guy. I have great respect for the work he is doing and how he manages the team.”
